Adoption

The foundation Erfgoed 40-45, municipalities Valkenswaard en Waalre, offers people the opportunity to adopt the grave of a fallen liberator, buried at the Valkenswaard War Cemetery. The foundation sees the managing of the adoption register as one of her main tasks.

House rules of the foundation

Adopting the grave of a fallen liberator, buried at the Valkenswaard War Cemetery means:

*            Visiting the grave. The frequency is determined by the adopter.

*            Laying a flower(s) (a wreath or remembrance cross available from the Royal British              Legion are also options) on the grave at special days or occasions (for instance:              National remembrance day-4th of May, The liberation of Valkenswaard –the 17th of              September or Christmas). The date is completely free. Due to maintenance, other              adornment then cut flowers is not desired.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is the organisation responsible for the construction and maintenance of the Valkenswaard War Cemetery. Their maintenance team stands for the regular maintenance of the cemetery. The flower beds on all their cemeteries all over the world are constructed according to a well-defined schedule that needs to be respected.
Therefore we have to point out to all adopters that removing or planting plants is strictly forbidden. Only cut flowers or official poppy's from the  Royal British Legion are allowed to be placed on the graves. Please remove all plastics and take all garbage with you.

We hope for your cooperation.

The adopter receives a certificate with the details of the adopted grave known by the foundation. As a compensation for the administration costs we request a yearly donation of € 5,00  for every adopted grave. The contribution can be transferred to the following account: NL27 RABO 0116 5846 45 in name of Stichting Erfgoed 40-45, gemeenten Valkenswaard en Waalre.

If you happen to be in the fortunate circumstances to support the foundation with a higher amount, than we would welcome this with grate gratitude. Gifts from people, entrepreneurs and businesses are more tan welcome.

The foundation exists only of volunteers. This way the complete funds can be used for things like flowers, research and welcoming relatives.

The donation will not be used for the maintenance of the graves and cemetery. The CWGC takes care of this.

The foundation requests the adopters to keep the secretary up to date with all changes that can be important for the adoption register. This could be address changes, passing's etc. Parents who wish to transmit their adoptions to their children, are being asked to report this to the foundation as well.
