He died of wounds in the fieldhospital at Meerveldhoven where he was initially buried.

From the service records of Denis Law Atkin, the following account can be reconstructed.

Denis Law Atkin was born on 8 April 1910 in Birmingham, Derbyshire. In civilian life he worked as a compositor. He enlisted in the British Army on 2 February 1932 and joined the Royal Engineers.

He served overseas in Jamaica from 10 September 1935 until 15 February 1939, after which he was placed on the Army Reserve from 16 May 1939 until 14 August 1939. He subsequently served with the British Expeditionary Force in France from 24 September 1939 until 3 June 1940.

On 18 February 1942 he was transferred to the Reconnaissance Corps.

Denis Law Atkin embarked for service in North West Europe on 17 August 1944.

According to his service records, he was 6 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Denis Law Atkin died of wounds on 29 September 1944.
