Died of wounds at the field hospital in the village of Meerveldhoven and initially buried there.
From the service records of Arthur George Wilkie, the following account can be reconstructed.
Arthur George Wilkie was born on 14 January 1916 in Newport, Monmouthshire. In civilian life he worked as a lorry driver. He enlisted in the British Army on 2 April 1940 and joined the Welch Regiment.
Arthur George Wilkie was not married.
He embarked for service in North West Europe on 25 July 1944.
According to his service records, he was 5 feet 3½ inches tall, with fair hair and blue eyes.
Arthur George Wilkie died of wounds on 23 September 1944.
