John Rushton was killed during the battle for Reusel.

From the service records of John Rushton, the following account can be reconstructed.

John Rushton was born on 24 January 1914 in Stockport, Cheshire. In civilian life he worked as a machine hand. He enlisted in the British Army on 24 June 1940 and joined the Royal Welch Fusiliers.

He married Mary Darlingplace on 2 May 1937 in Stockport. The couple had two children.

John Rushton embarked for service in North West Europe on 24 June 1944.

According to his service records, he was 5 feet 4½ inches tall, with dark brown hair and dark green eyes.

John Rushton was killed in action on 21 September 1944.
