Son of Robert and Rachel Davey, husband of Elsie Elizabeth Davey, of Llangynwyd, Glamorgan.
Died of wounds at the fieldhospital in Meerveldhoven. He was initially buried there before being transfered to the Valkenswaard War Cemetery.

From the service records of David James Davey, the following account can be reconstructed.
David James Davey was born on 2 May 1921 in Gornant, Shropshire. In civilian life he worked as a collier. He was described as being 5 feet 11½ inches tall, with blue eyes and brown hair.
He enlisted in the British Army on 13 February 1939, joining the Welch Regiment. On 22 September 1942, David married Elsie Elisabeth. The couple had one child.
David was deployed to North-West Europe on 10 June 1944 as part of the Allied campaign following the Normandy landings. During his service, he was awarded a C.I.G. Certificate for Gallantry in recognition of his bravery.
David James Davey later died of wounds on 7 October 1944.
