From the service records of Peter Cyril Bramwell, the following account can be reconstructed.
Peter Cyril Bramwell was born on 4 July 1916 in Stalybridge, Stockport. He enlisted in the British Army on 27 June 1940 and was posted to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He was described as being 5 feet 6½ inches tall, with blue eyes and brown hair.
On 7 September 1940, he married Lizzy Violet in Macclesfield, where the couple also settled and made their home.
On 24 June 1944, Peter was shipped to the European mainland as part of the Allied advance following D-Day. Three months later, on 24 September 1944, he was killed in action.
His service records mark the end of a life cut short during the fighting in North-West Europe.
