From the service records of Robert George Brown, the following account can be reconstructed.
Robert George Brown was born on 20 June 1914 in Hackney, London. In civilian life he worked as a shirt cutter. He was described as 5 feet 2½ inches tall, with blue eyes and auburn hair.
On 12 June 1938, Robert married Marie Louise Guglielmont in Hackney. The couple had one child.
He enlisted in the British Army on 20 June 1940, joining the Royal Welch Fusiliers (RWF). Following training, he was deployed to North-West Europe on 13 July 1944, participating in the campaign after the Normandy landings.
Robert George Brown was killed in action on 20 September 1944. He is remembered as a devoted husband and father who gave his life during the liberation of Western Europe.
