He died in the battles around the village of Best and was initially buried there.

From the service records of Edward Arthur Dymott, the following account can be reconstructed.

Edward Arthur Dymott was born on 2 November 1921 in Abbey Wood, London. In civilian life he worked as a slaughterman. He was described as being 5 feet 4½ inches tall, with brown eyes and black hair. He was unmarried.

Edward enlisted in the British Army on 26 February 1942 and was initially posted to the General Service Corps. On 30 June 1942, he was transferred to the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment.

On 30 July 1944, he was sent overseas to Europe. Shortly afterwards, on 1 September 1944, he joined the King’s Own Scottish Borderers.

Edward Arthur Dymott was killed in action on 22 September 1944, during the fighting in North-West Europe.
