Killed during the battle of Reusel, and initially buried there.
From the service records of Kenneth Owen John Haine, the following account can be reconstructed.
Kenneth Owen John Haine was born on 27 February 1919 in Lee, London. He was educated at Northbrook School from 1923 to 1931, and later attended the School of Engineering and Navigation from 1931 to 1935. He was not married.
He enlisted in the British Army on 17 July 1939, joining the 21st Searchlight Militia Depot of the Royal Artillery. He began his service as a gunner and was promoted to lance bombardier on 14 August 1939.
On 5 October 1939 he was transferred to the Royal Welch Fusiliers, where he became a fusilier. He was promoted to lance corporal on 11 November 1939, appointed acting corporal on 9 March 1940, and promoted to sergeant on 3 August 1940.
On 27 December 1943 Kenneth Owen John Haine was transferred to an Officers’ Cadet Training Unit.
According to his service records, he was 5 feet 11½ inches tall, with fair hair and light blue eyes.
