From the service records of George Alfred Harris, the following account can be reconstructed.

George Alfred Harris was born on 21 February 1926 in Saltley, Birmingham, Warwickshire. In civilian life he worked as a capstan operator. He was described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall, with hazel eyes and brown hair.

He enlisted in the British Army on 27 September 1943, joining the General Service Corps. He later joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment on 10 May 1944, before transferring to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on 19 September 1944. He was not married.

George was sent to North-West Europe on 26 August 1944 as part of the Allied campaign following the Normandy landings.

George Alfred Harris died of wounds on 26 September 1944.
