From surviving service records, the following outline of Ernest Ronald Morgan’s life and military service can be reconstructed.

Ernest Ronald Morgan was born on 20 January 1920 in Ewyas Harold, Hereford, Herefordshire. Before enlistment he worked as a motor mechanic. He was not married. His physical description records him as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, with blue eyes and fair hair.

He enlisted in the British Army on 26 April 1939 and joined the Herefordshire Regiment. He later transferred to the Royal Welch Fusiliers on 26 July 1944.

Ernest Ronald Morgan embarked for service in North West Europe on 16 July 1944.

He was killed in action on 21 September 1944.
