From the service records of John William Peters, the following account can be reconstructed.

John William Peters was born on 19 March 1916 in Spalding, Lancashire. In civilian life he worked as a butcher’s assistant. He enlisted in the British Army on 16 April 1940 and joined the Welch Regiment.

John William Peters was not married.

He embarked for service in North West Europe on 20 June 1944.

According to his service records, he was 5 feet 4 inches tall, with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

John William Peters was killed in action on 22 September 1944.
