From the service files of George Henry Phillips, the following details can be established.
George Henry Phillips was born on 28 July 1911 in Mountain Ash, Glamorgan. He enlisted in the General Service Corps on 15 July 1943. At the time of his enlistment, he was recorded as being 5 feet 5½ inches tall, with brown eyes. His hair was described as brown/ bald and he was single.
On 20 August 1943, he was transferred to the South Wales Borderers, and on 26 July 1944 he was posted to the Royal Welch Fusiliers. While serving with this regiment, George Henry Phillips was killed in action on 20 September 1944. He was thirty-three years old.
