Son of William and Maud Butler, of March, Cambridgeshire.

Kenneth was born June 1st 1925 Cambridgeshire, U.K. His brother died February 1942 in Singapore aged 28.

Kenneth William Butler probably got injured on the attack on Bladel on the 22nd of September.The war diary for his regiments states for that day: 4 Other Ranks killed, 1 officer and 17 Other Ranks wounded. 3 other ranks missing. He was initially buried at the cemetery T´Hof in Bergeyk.

From the service records of Kenneth William Butler, the following account can be reconstructed.

Kenneth William Butler was born on 20 December 1923 in March, Cambridgeshire. In civilian life he worked as a butcher’s assistant. He enlisted in the British Army on 2 January 1942 and joined the Royal Norfolk Regiment. On 7 February 1943 he was transferred to the East Lancashire Regiment.

Kenneth William Butler was not married.

He embarked for service in North West Europe on 24 June 1944.

According to his service records, he was approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Kenneth William Butler was killed in action on 23 September 1944.
