From the service records of Charles Stanley Dagnall, the following account can be reconstructed.

Charles Stanley Dagnall was born on 5 June 1919 in Tamworth, Staffordshire. In civilian life he worked as a band finisher (piper). He was not married.

He enlisted in the British Army on 15 January 1940 and joined the South Staffordshire Regiment. On 26 August 1944 he was transferred to the South Wales Borderers / Monmouthshire Regiment.

Charles Stanley Dagnall embarked for service in North West Europe on 29 June 1944.

According to his service records, he was 5 feet 6⅞ inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Charles Stanley Dagnall was killed in action on 24 September 1944.
