From the service records of Robert Ormiston, the following account can be reconstructed.
Robert Ormiston was born on 2 February 1925 in Dennistoun, Glasgow, Lanarkshire. In civilian life he worked as a motor driver. He was not married.
He enlisted in the British Army on 1 February 1944 and joined the General Service Corps. On 16 February 1944 he was transferred to the Royal Scots Fusiliers, and later, on 20 September 1944, to the Seaforth Highlanders.
According to his service records, he was 5 feet 8½ inches tall, with fair hair and blue eyes.
A stretcher bearer later reported that Robert Ormiston was brought to an aid station, where he died the following day. This indicates that he was most likely wounded on 23 September 1944.
Robert Ormiston died of wounds on 24 September 1944.
